Udayasthamana Pooja

Udayasthamana Pooja, literally meaning “from sunrise to sunset,” is one of the most revered and spiritually elevating offerings performed in Kerala temples. It is a sacred vow where the entire day is dedicated to continuous worship, immersing the temple and its surroundings in divine vibrations from dawn till dusk.

The pooja symbolizes uninterrupted devotion, surrender, and gratitude to the deity. Preparations begin on the previous evening at the time of Deeparadhana, where in the divine presence of Lord Ganesha, the rice used for the next day's Nivedyam is solemnly measured and kept aside.

The first ritual is the Mahaganapathi Homam — a fire offering to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles — followed by 18 individual poojas with sacred offerings including 25 Kalasabhishekam, Navakam, and Panchagavyam. The day closes with the serene Athazha Pooja. Participating in or sponsoring this pooja is considered a rare spiritual blessing.
